Abu Dhabi, UAE – During a phone call with Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed the evolving situation in the region amid escalating military operations. They also discussed the risks these operations pose of widening the conflict and their repercussions on regional and international security and stability.
Egypt condemns Iranian attacks
During the call, the Egyptian president reiterated his condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and several other countries in the region, affirming Egypt’s full solidarity with the UAE regarding all measures it is taking to preserve its security and sovereignty and ensure the safety of its citizens.
Sisi emphasized Cairo’s support for all efforts aimed at protecting the stability of the region. He also stressed the importance of preventing the region from sliding into further tensions and conflicts.
Praise for the UAE’s role in de-escalation
The Egyptian president praised the UAE’s role in supporting de-escalation efforts and promoting regional stability, commending the measures it has taken to contain the current escalation.
He also affirmed Egypt’s readiness to provide all possible forms of support. This comes in order to preserve the region’s stability during this sensitive period in its history.
Call to halt escalation
For his part, the President of the UAE expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian President for Egypt’s supportive stance, emphasizing the importance of ongoing coordination and consultation between the two countries to address regional challenges.
Both sides stressed the need for an immediate cessation of military escalation. Furthermore, they emphasized the importance of prioritizing serious dialogue and diplomatic means to resolve regional issues, thereby preventing further crises and strengthening regional and international peace and security.
