Abu Dhabi, UAE – Anwar Gargash, advisor to the UAE President, stated on Twitter that the remarks made by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, in which he accused the UAE of aggression against his country, reflect a confused Iranian policy that has misjudged the situation and lost its way. He also emphasized that the UAE continues to prioritize reason and logic in its handling of the crisis.
Iranian attack and the right to self-defense
Gargash confirmed that the UAE was subjected to a brutal Iranian attack after 7:09 PM, and that the country has the full right to defend itself against this terrorist aggression. He added that the continued restraint reflects the rational approach adopted by the UAE despite the challenges. He also indicated that the UAE is seeking solutions to prevent an escalation of the regional situation.
Arqaji’s statement and exposure of the aggression
The advisor pointed out that Araqchi’s statements reinforced Iran’s isolation and exposed its aggression. He emphasized that this stance reveals the contradictory nature of Iranian policy, which aims to portray the aggressor as the victim, while reality demonstrates the exact opposite. This demonstrates Tehran’s continued aggressive approach towards the UAE and the region.
Mediation efforts to avert war
Gargash noted that the UAE made sincere efforts until the very last moment to mediate between Washington and Tehran, with the aim of preventing a full-blown war in the region. He also emphasized that these initiatives reflect the UAE’s commitment to regional and international security and stability, while safeguarding the interests and well-being of the region’s people.
