Abu Dhabi, UAE – His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, received a phone call on Tuesday from His Excellency Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. During the call, Barzani condemned the terrorist attack that targeted the UAE Consulate General in the region.

Condemnations and risks of aggression

Barzani stressed that the attack on the consulate constitutes a flagrant violation of international norms and conventions that guarantee the protection of diplomatic missions and their premises. The attack also represents a dangerous escalation that threatens the safety and security of diplomatic personnel.

Discussion of regional developments

During the call, the two sides discussed the dangerous developments unfolding in the region, in light of the escalating military operations and their repercussions on regional security and stability. They also emphasized the importance of coordination to counter any threats to the interests of countries in the region.

UAE position
