Abu Dhabi, UAE – The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the attack targeting its consulate building in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It affirmed that such acts constitute a serious violation of diplomatic laws and norms that guarantee the protection of diplomatic missions and premises.
In an official statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that targeting the consulate is an unacceptable attack that threatens the safety and security of diplomatic personnel. It also stressed the need to take the necessary measures to hold those responsible for this attack accountable.
Refusal threatens the safety of diplomats
The UAE reiterated its firm rejection of such acts targeting diplomatic missions or threatening the safety of diplomats. It called on the relevant Iraqi authorities to strengthen security measures to ensure the protection of diplomatic facilities and prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
Abu Dhabi also emphasized its solidarity with efforts aimed at maintaining security and stability in Iraq. It affirmed its support for all steps that would enhance stability and protect diplomatic missions operating in the country.
This development comes amidst a tense security situation in some parts of Iraq. This has prompted many countries to stress the need to protect diplomatic missions in accordance with relevant international agreements.
