Abu Dhabi, UAE – The United Arab Emirates strongly welcomed the announcement by the administration of US President Donald Trump designating the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan as a global terrorist organization. Abu Dhabi affirmed that this decision represents a fundamental pillar in international efforts to combat extremism and achieve stability in Africa and the Arab region.
Appreciating American efforts
In an official statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, the UAE affirmed that this measure reflects the ongoing and systematic efforts of the Trump administration to end the excessive violence directed against civilians. The statement indicated that the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan has played a destructive role in destabilizing the country and undermining all diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing Sudanese conflict, seeking to impose its extremist ideological agenda.
Depriving terrorism of its resources
The ministry emphasized that this step represents a pivotal measure within the international efforts led by the United States to deny terrorist groups access to resources and funding. It explained that isolating this group financially and politically will directly contribute to reducing its ability to engage in acts of extremism and hatred, or to provide support and cover to justify terrorist operations that terrorize innocent civilians.
UAE’s unwavering commitment
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded its statement by reaffirming the UAE’s unwavering commitment to supporting all international efforts aimed at combating extremism in all its forms and manifestations. It reiterated the UAE’s commitment to cooperating with international partners, foremost among them the United States, to strengthen the foundations of regional and international security and stability, and to ensure the protection of societies from the threat of extremist organizations that seek to spread chaos and destruction. This Emirati welcome comes within the context of the shared vision between Abu Dhabi and Washington regarding the necessity of firmly confronting entities that obstruct the paths to peace and democratic transition in Sudan, thereby guaranteeing the rule of law and protecting the resources of the brotherly Sudanese people.
