Dubai, UAE – Officials of supply companies and members of the Dubai Fruit and Vegetable Suppliers Group said that they are currently turning to land shipping options for vegetables and fruits.
This is to support local markets with additional quantities in the coming days.
They explained that increasing land freight quantities is a suitable window and a supportive alternative to local season production, in order to increase the abundance of supply and stabilize prices.
They pointed out that the focus on land shipping options includes countries such as Jordan, Syria, Egypt and Turkey, and that there are companies that have increased weekly shipments from 50 tons to 200 tons, and there are additional shipments expected to arrive in Dubai markets (Wednesday).

Mohammed Al Sharif, a member of the Dubai Fruit and Vegetable Suppliers Group and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Farzana Trading Group, said, “Companies are currently turning to land shipping options and alternatives in large quantities, to increase support for the markets with additional quantities of fruits and vegetables.”
He added, “The most prominent land shipping options available to companies are concentrated in the destinations of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, and Lebanon, which makes each company move to provide appropriate quantities, to increase the abundance of supply in the markets, which enhances price stability”.
Al-Sharif explained that “his company has orders via land shipping, and they are expected to arrive in the markets in the coming days.”
He stressed that “the markets are currently witnessing stability and an abundance of vegetables and fruits.”

For his part, fruit and vegetable trader and supplier, member of the Dubai Fruit and Vegetable Suppliers Group, Sharif Wahid, said that he “tended to increase land shipping quantities, as an alternative window for shipping, to support the markets with additional quantities during the coming period.”
He pointed out that “his company increased its land freight supply operations from 50 tons per week during previous periods to reach 200 tons per week during the current period.”
Additional shipments by land are expected to arrive in Al-Awir markets today.
He added, “Land shipping will include countries such as Jordan, Syria, Egypt and Turkey, and with the speed and facilitation of shipping these containers to local markets, the markets will be supported with additional quantities that increase the abundance of supply and price stability”.

In the same context, fruit and vegetable trader and supplier, member of the Fruit and Vegetable Suppliers Group in Dubai, Mohammed Nassar Al Rifai, said, “Moving towards the option of land shipping in large quantities of fruits and vegetables is one of the solutions that supports increasing the additional quantities of the supply and stock of various types of fruits and vegetables in local markets.”
He added, “The trend towards obtaining vegetables and fruits via land shipping is mostly concentrated in destinations such as Jordan, Egypt and Syria.”
He pointed out that “the markets are currently witnessing an abundance of supply of vegetables and fruits, and stability in prices, with a commitment to prior contracts with most sales outlets”.
He stressed that “land shipping options, along with local season production, will enhance the abundance of vegetables and fruits available in the markets, and increase the availability of multiple alternatives and options in the markets.”
