Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Federal National Council (FNC) will hold its sixth session of the third ordinary session of the 18th legislative term on Wednesday, March 4, chaired by His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, in the Zayed Hall at the Council’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The session will discuss a draft federal law amending certain provisions of Federal Decree-Law No. (6) of 2007 concerning the establishment and organization of the National Center of Meteorology, after its referral to the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Affairs, Appeals and Complaints on an urgent basis.
Amendment to the National Meteorology Law
The proposed bill addresses the modernization of several provisions governing the work of the National Center for Meteorology, thereby enhancing its role in developing weather monitoring and early warning services. It also supports the institutional framework to keep pace with scientific and technological advancements in this vital sector.
Admission and Scholarship Policies
The council will discuss the government’s policies regarding student admissions to higher education institutions, as well as scholarships and grants. This comes within the framework of ensuring that educational outcomes align with labor market demands and that the scholarship system is improved to serve national development priorities.
A question about the study system at the Higher Colleges of Technology.
The agenda includes directing a question to His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports and President of the Higher Colleges of Technology, from Her Excellency Member Amna Ali Al Adidi, regarding the decision to convert some courses from the distance learning system to the attendance system.
Localization of teaching and quality of educational life
Another question will be directed to His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Abdulmanan Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, regarding the Emiratization of teaching positions in colleges and universities. The Council will also discuss parliamentary reports on family protection. Furthermore, it will discuss the government’s policy on the quality of life of teaching staff and its impact on educational outcomes. Finally, a letter addressed to the Cabinet concerning health insurance policies will be reviewed.
