Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Ministry of Community Empowerment launched the community initiative “Al-Yafna” in the holy month.
This is to enhance community cohesion and revive the culture of socializing in residential neighborhoods, as it is a pillar of the Emirati identity.
This initiative comes in line with the designation of 2026 as the Year of the Family.

Its first stop began in the Juffair Council in the city of Al Ain, to be the starting point for an initiative that will be implemented in eight residential neighborhoods, across seven emirates, as part of an integrated action plan implemented by the Ministry in cooperation with a number of local partners, neighborhood councils, and community institutions.
This geographical extension reflects the Ministry’s keenness to ensure that the initiative reaches various community environments, thus enhancing its presence and impact in the Emirates
The initiative derives its name from a word that is authentic in local memory. The “yafna” is the vessel around which people gather and share, in an image that sums up the meanings of closeness and sharing.

Reviving the culture of group breakfast
The “Yafna” aims to revive the culture of group breakfast in the neighborhoods, which enhances communication between neighbors, opens spaces for getting to know each other, and strengthens social ties between families.
It also contributes to highlighting the Emirati Ramadan identity in a way that reflects the authenticity of customs with the participation of all components of society.

With this initiative, the Ministry seeks to enhance the role of neighborhoods and families in the social empowerment system, and to consolidate the concept of shared responsibility in building a cohesive and cohesive society. Especially since effective community initiatives are measured by the depth of their impact, the sustainability of their results, and their ability to reshape the relationship between community members on the basis of trust, cooperation, and belonging.
The initiative will also witness a diverse community presence of citizens and residents, in addition to the participation of influential community figures.
