Dubai, UAE – Al Wasl secured their place in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League 2, after turning a deficit into a thrilling 4-2 victory over Iraq’s Al Zawraa, in a match that went into extra time.
The match was held at Zabeel Stadium, as part of the second leg of the Round of 16 of the AFC Champions League 2.
Al-Zawraa opened the scoring in the 21st minute through Ibrahim Jabadamosi, who took advantage of a perfect pass that put him in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper, and he put the ball in the net.
As the second half began, Al Wasl quickly equalized in the 46th minute through Brian Palacios, after he headed a powerful ball into the goal.
Gbadamosi returned to give his team the lead again in the 65th minute, taking advantage of another one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
But Al Wasl’s response was swift, as Miguel Borja scored the equalizer in the 77th minute, igniting the atmosphere of the match.
In the dying moments, specifically at the 90+3 minute, Adrelison Silva snatched the third goal, leveling the aggregate score of the two legs and sending the match into extra time.
During the second period of extra time, Adrelison Silva secured qualification by scoring the fourth goal in the 109th minute, confirming an exciting comeback for the Emirati team.
