Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Presidential Court announced on Tuesday that the crescent moon of Ramadan had been sighted. Therefore, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, will be the first day of the holy month in the UAE. This follows the confirmed sighting this evening.
Crescent Sighting Committee Meeting
The Supreme Islamic Court issued an official statement explaining that the decision
was based on the findings of the Ramadan Crescent Sighting Committee for the year 1447 AH. The committee is affiliated with the UAE Fatwa Council.
Furthermore, the committee convened on Tuesday evening at Qasr Al Hosn in Abu Dhabi, corresponding to the 29th of Sha’ban 1447 AH.
The decision was also made after reviewing reports and sighting results.
These were received from various regions of the country.
The statement confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon according to Islamic law.
Therefore, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, will be the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan 1447 AH in the UAE.
Finally, the statement concluded with a prayer that God would bring it back to the UAE
and the entire Muslim world with goodness, prosperity, and blessings.

The sentiment extends to Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates and Members of the Federal Supreme Council. It also includes His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chief of the Presidential Court.
Their Highnesses the Crown Princes and Deputy Rulers are also included, as well as the people of the United Arab Emirates.
