Doha, Qatar – Emirati driver Rashid Al Dhaheri won second place in the 2026 Middle East Regional Formula Championship.
After a strong title competition that continued until the final round, and was decided by a limited points margin.
The season witnessed four tours in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Lusail, Qatar.
Al Dhaheri topped the overall standings in three of them, and achieved three victories during the two rounds held at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
To become the first driver from the Middle East and North Africa region to win races in this tournament.
The 2026 edition included wide participation from drivers representing international programs and academies within the FIA track for single-seat categories.
Al Dhaheri was the only representative of the Middle East and North Africa region in the competitions.
In the final round held on Sunday in Lusail, Qatar, Al Dhaheri finished the first race in sixth place, and the second in seventh place.
He dropped to second place in the overall standings at the end of the season, after remaining in the title competition until the final stages.
Al Dhaheri’s second place is the best result for a driver from the Middle East and North Africa region in the history of the championship.
It reflects his regular presence at the top of the standings during most of the season.
Al Dhaheri is scheduled to participate in the FIA European Regional Formula Championship at the end of next April.
Which extends for 8 rounds to be held on a number of Formula 1 circuits in Europe until next October, as part of the path of the preliminary categories qualifying for Formula 3.
