Abu Dhabi, UAE – The second round of political consultations between the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Islamic Republic of Iran was held in Tehran, headed by Her Excellency Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State, and His Excellency Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Khalid Balhoul, UAE Ambassador to Iran, His Excellency Reza Ameri, Iran Ambassador to the UAE, and a number of senior officials from both sides.
Both sides affirmed that these consultations represent an opportunity to strengthen dialogue and discuss issues of common interest.
It also contributes to the development of bilateral relations and the promotion of common interests of the two countries and peoples.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed a range of regional and international issues, and discussed the latest developments in the region and their implications for peace and security. They also addressed efforts to tackle existing challenges.
Ways to enhance joint cooperation in the areas of foreign policy, security, energy and trade were also discussed.
They also focused on achieving regional stability and supporting sustainable development.
The consultations concluded with an agreement to continue coordination on a regular basis and to activate the joint technical committees to accelerate the implementation of existing agreements.
It was also agreed to explore new areas of cooperation between the two countries.
During her visit, Her Excellency Nusseibeh met with His Excellency Abbas Araqchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister, and conveyed to him the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
She also discussed with him issues related to regional peace and security, stressing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to promote stability and build relations based on mutual respect.
