Abu Dhabi, UAE – Her Excellency Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, President of the Republic of North Macedonia, affirmed that the “Document on Human Fraternity” represents a global model for establishing a culture of dialogue and understanding among peoples.
She also commended the UAE’s leading role in supporting humanitarian initiatives
and praised its promotion of the values of tolerance and peace internationally.
This came during an official reception held by the Global Council for Tolerance
and Peace in honor of the President at the Al Aqah Heritage Museums Village in the Emirate of Fujairah.
The reception was attended by His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Council;
His Excellency Timo Mokonski, Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia;
and His Excellency Khalid Al Ghaith, Chairman of the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity.
Human fraternity and global challenges
A number of senior officials were also present.
President Davkova emphasized that promoting the values of human fraternity is fundamental to addressing global challenges.
She affirmed that it forms the basis for building a future founded on coexistence
and respect for cultural and religious diversity.
She also commended the ongoing efforts of the Global Council
for Tolerance and Peace in promoting a culture of dialogue among different civilizations.
The President’s visit and the celebration coincided with the anniversary of the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi in 2019.
The document was signed by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar,
and His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church.
This day was later adopted by the United Nations as the International Day of Human Fraternity on February 4th.
Dialogue and mutual respect
For his part, His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan affirmed that the meeting reflects
the importance of building international relations based on dialogue and mutual respect.
It also embodies the role of diplomacy in fostering rapprochement between peoples.
He explained that the ceremony, held in an authentic Emirati heritage setting,
aims to promote humanitarian messages and spread a culture of tolerance and global peace.
He also emphasized that this reinforces the UAE’s position as a leading center for peace and intercultural dialogue.
This initiative underscores the UAE’s continued commitment to providing a global model for peace and coexistence.
Furthermore, the UAE continues to support humanitarian efforts and international initiatives,
working to strengthen understanding among peoples and the values of fraternity and mutual respect.
