Abu Dhabi, UAE – The UAE Accountability Authority signed a memorandum of understanding with the Estonian Audit Office to enhance cooperation in the fields of oversight and auditing.
The memorandum also aims to exchange institutional expertise
and leverage modern technologies to develop auditing systems and digital governance.
This step comes within the framework of the growing relations
between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Estonia.
The memorandum was signed during a meeting between His Excellency Hamid Obaid Abu Shabs, Chairman of the UAE Accountability Authority,
and Janar Holm, Auditor General of the Republic of Estonia.
The accompanying delegation was also present at the Authority’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
Adopting digital solutions
The memorandum highlighted the importance of developing oversight mechanisms
and enhancing cooperation in government auditing and institutional capacity building.
Furthermore, it emphasized leveraging digital solutions and modern technologies to bolster oversight
and auditing efficiency in accordance with international best practices.
The memorandum also aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise and strengthen international partnerships,
thereby contributing to the consolidation of transparency and accountability principles at both the Emirati and Estonian levels.
His Excellency Hamid Abu Shabash affirmed that the Memorandum of Understanding represents
a strategic step towards strengthening international cooperation in the field of auditing and oversight.
This contributes to supporting the UAE’s efforts to develop a digital governance and oversight environment.
He commended Estonia’s advanced experience in adopting digital solutions,
noting that the exchange of expertise will benefit both sides and enhance institutional performance.

This memorandum comes within the framework of a series of international agreements concluded by the UAE Accountability Authority
with several countries to enhance cooperation in the fields of oversight
and auditing, including China, Greece, Seychelles, Uganda,
and the Sultanate of Oman. This reflects the UAE’s commitment to building strategic partnerships based on global best practices.
This initiative is part of the UAE’s ongoing efforts to promote integrity and transparency.
It also aims to leverage modern technologies to support government oversight
and ensure the effectiveness of institutional operations in accordance
with the highest international standards.
