New York, United States – The UAE called for accelerating the implementation of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan in the Gaza Strip.

She stressed that there is an opportunity to transform the ceasefire into lasting peace.

This is achieved through a genuine and shared commitment to the full implementation of the peace plan and the launch of a clear and irreversible political process.

It aims to establish an independent, sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The UAE said in a statement during the quarterly open discussion on the situation in the Middle East, delivered by Ambassador Mohammed Abu Shehab, the country’s permanent representative to the United Nations: «More than two years after the devastating conflict in Gaza, we now have a framework issued by the Security Council under Resolution 2303, which provides a realistic and integrated path for emergency response and reconstruction, in preparation for a sustainable political settlement».

The UAE welcomed the launch of the «Peace Council» and the formation of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.

In addition, it affirmed its commitment to continuing the full implementation of the comprehensive peace plan, including through its membership in both: «the Peace Council» and the Executive Council of Gaza.

The statement said: «The UAE has demonstrated over decades its firm commitment to the Palestinian people. During the war on Gaza, my country topped international efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the Strip, and those efforts are still continuing, the most recent of which was the transfer of more than 7,300 tons of relief supplies to Gaza via the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid humanitarian ship».

The statement added: «We are fully aware that humanitarian aid alone is not enough to rebuild what was destroyed. In the next stage, it is necessary to fully fulfill the commitments made, and accelerate the implementation of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan, including Israel’s commitment to the agreed withdrawal, ensuring the disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups, the return of basic services, and enabling reconstruction efforts».

The statement stressed the need to fully reopen the Rafah crossing in both directions.

With the recovery of all hostages complete, allowing the resumption of the movement of personnel and the flow of humanitarian aid and commercial goods.

He stressed the importance of facilitating unhindered humanitarian access to all those most in need.

Especially in light of the enormous humanitarian needs.

While nearly 800,000 people live in flood-prone areas, the extreme cold continues to claim lives.

The statement renewed the UAE’s support for United Nations humanitarian efforts in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Including UNRWA «UNRWA», he also expressed deep regret over the continuing deterioration of the situation in the occupied West Bank.

At the conclusion of the statement, the UAE stressed that we have an opportunity to transform the ceasefire into lasting peace, through a real and joint commitment to fully implement the comprehensive peace plan.

In addition to launching a clear and irreversible political process aimed at establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Live side by side with Israel in peace and prosperity.

He stressed support for all these efforts.
