Dubai, UAE – The “Emirati-Kuwaiti Media Forum” held at the Museum of the Future in Dubai witnessed an exceptional session entitled “Sports in the UAE and Kuwait… One Spirit”,

Highlights
  • Memories of the golden generation
  • The Gulf Cup… the gathering closest to our hearts
  • History of the movement
  • One spirit, one shared ambition

The participants reviewed the most prominent milestones of sports cooperation that brought together the two brotherly countries.

Those present affirmed that the Gulf championships and joint camps were not merely fleeting competitions,

but rather a fundamental driver for strengthening popular rapprochement;

This has made sports a strong bridge for communication between generations, ensuring the sustainability of deep-rooted fraternal ties.

Memories of the golden generation

In the same context, Muzaffar Al-Haj, the former cultural attaché of the State of Kuwait, reviewed his unique experience

as a player in the Kuwait University team, where he expressed his pride in playing alongside the giants of Kuwaiti football.

Accordingly, Al-Hajj revealed inspiring milestones in his career, including his selection as an ideal student

and president of the university team; this confidence embodied the depth of Kuwait’s embrace of Emirati talents.

This culminated in the establishment of the first Emirati supporters’ association in Kuwait

during the “Gulf Cup 1974”, which marked the beginning of joint fan organization.

The Gulf Cup… the gathering closest to our hearts

Furthermore, Kuwaiti star Bashar Abdullah stressed that the UAE is “closest to our hearts,” describing the relationship as “brotherhood forever.”

Since the Gulf Cup tournament represents a golden opportunity for athletes and media professionals to come together,

the human relationships that developed between the players of the two countries were the real gain;

Bashar confirmed this by pointing out that the global football system has changed and become more collective,

but the spirit of brotherly competition remains the constant value.

Especially since Kuwaiti successes in individual sports and shooting are still ongoing despite the administrative challenges.

History of the movement

On the other hand, sports historian Mohammed Al-Jawker highlighted the historical roots of this relationship,

explaining that it began in the 1950s when Emiratis went to study and practice sports in Kuwait.

Since 1969 witnessed the first participation of a team from Dubai in an Arab championship in Kuwait,

This paved the way for the golden era of the seventies, which witnessed visits

by prestigious clubs such as “Al-Qadisiyah” and “Kuwait” to the Emirates;

This proves that the sports movement was at the forefront of shaping a unified Gulf identity,

given that sports are a language that does not need translation between brothers.

One spirit, one shared ambition

The “One Spirit” session embodied the reality of the deep-rooted relations

between the UAE and Kuwait on all levels.

Therefore, the forum comes out with a clear affirmation

that sports cooperation is a key pillar of the “Brothers Forever” week;

This will contribute to passing on this inspiring experience to future generations.
