Abu Dhabi, UAE – The United Arab Emirates, along with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Qatar, announced their countries’ joint decision to join the Peace Council. This came in response to an invitation from US President Donald Trump.
In a joint statement issued today, the ministers confirmed that they have begun the process of finalizing the legal procedures for signing the accession documents. They also noted that the UAE, along with Egypt and Pakistan, had previously announced their intention to join this initiative.
Supporting international efforts to end the Gaza conflict
The eight countries reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the implementation of the “Peace Council” mission as a transitional body, within the overall framework of the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip. This is in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
This step aims to achieve several key objectives, most notably:
- Establishing a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
- Supporting reconstruction efforts in the affected areas.
- The statement called for efforts toward a just and lasting peace that guarantees the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state in accordance with international law.
The statement concluded by emphasizing that these efforts are primarily aimed at paving the way for achieving comprehensive security and stability for all countries and peoples of the region.
