Abu Dhabi, UAE – The UAE and the Republic of Chad laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and Cultural Center in the Chadian capital, N’Djamena.
This is in continuation of the agreement signed between the two countries in April 2025.
Through the Emirates International Aid Agency and the Ministry of Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning and International Cooperation of Chad.
This came in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the Emirates, and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the State, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Presidential Office.
His Excellency Rashid Saeed Al Shamsi stressed that the UAE will continue the solid human legacy laid by the late founding leader Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God bless his soul, towards joint international development work and providing assistance to friendly and needy communities around the world, and in translation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, in implementing various development projects in the social, economic, cultural, infrastructure and other fields In line with the local needs of beneficiary communities and the priorities of the Sustainable Development Goals.
It is noteworthy that Sheikh Zayed Mosque is being built on an area of (5,000 square meters), and can accommodate (10,000) worshipers, with 5,000 worshipers inside the mosque, and 5,000 worshipers in the mosque’s courtyard and its surroundings.
With a public library and a religious school to teach the Holy Quran and its sciences.
The cultural center is also being built on a designated land area of (2,000 square metres).
It includes 16 classrooms, administrative offices, multi-purpose halls for lectures, workshops and cultural activities, and a diverse library.
The center’s main activities focus on Iftar programs, sacrificial animal distribution, training courses, and joint UAE and Chadian national events.
