Al Ain, UAE – The UAE’s male and female youth players topped the Al Ain International Open Judo Championship under 21 years of age at the conclusion of its competitions, Sunday, at the Khalifa bin Zayed Sports Hall at Al Ain Club, with 21 medals, including 7 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze.
The tournament, organized by the Emirates Judo Federation, under the auspices of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and in cooperation with Al Ain Sports Club, witnessed the participation of 340 male and female players from 33 countries, the second title for Emirati judo after winning the U-15 junior lead on the first day of the competitions.
The Indian team came second with 4 gold medals.
The Syrian team is third with 5 medals, including a gold, two silver and two bronze.
Kalba Club also topped the U-21 men’s singles category.
Fujairah Martial Arts came second, and Sharjah Sports Club came third.
The top spot in female singles went to Kalba Women’s Sports Club, second place went to the Fujairah Martial Arts Club team, and the Nujera team came third.
The winners were crowned by Dr. Nasser Al-Tamimi, Vice President of the Judo Federation, Mohammed Jassim, Secretary-General of the Federation, and Issa bin Howaidan, Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Judo Clubs and Centers Committee for the Eastern and Northern Region.
