Dubai, UAE – The Supreme Organizing Committee of the Dubai International Men’s Basketball Championship announced the preliminary list of teams participating in the thirty-fifth edition of the tournament.

Which will be held during the period from January 23 to February 1 at the Rashid bin Hamdan Hall at Al Nasr Club in Dubai.

This came during the meeting held today under the chairmanship of Abdul Latif Nasser Al Fardan, President of the UAE Basketball Federation and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Championship.

In the presence of committee members, at the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee.

The current list includes 8 teams: the UAE national team, Al-Nasr Club, Beirut of Lebanon, Al-Karama and Al-Fida from Syria, Al-Ahly Tripoli of Libya, Zamboanga of the Philippines, and African Club of Tunisia.

Participation will remain open for 48 hours as the committee receives requests from other clubs that have not yet completed the procedures for confirming their participation.

Abdul Latif Al Fardan stressed that the UAE national team’s participation comes within the framework of the desire to benefit from technical contact in an international tournament included in the agenda of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

He pointed out that the tournament constitutes an important milestone in the team’s preparation program to participate in the accompanying Gulf Games scheduled in the State of Qatar next May.

He explained that the tournament, which is considered one of the most prestigious basketball tournaments in the region, continued to consolidate its technical and organizational position at the Arab and regional levels over the course of 35 editions.

Its name has even become associated with Dubai as a regional and international sports destination.

Al Fardan praised the continued support from the Ministry of Sports, the National Olympic Committee and the Dubai Sports Council.

He stressed that this support contributed to the continued success and development of the tournament and made it a prominent milestone in the UAE basketball process.
