Sharjah, United Arab Emirates- His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved measures to support beneficiaries
of social assistance through the Department of Social Services, ensuring they achieve a decent standard of living.
The monthly aid has been increased to AED 17,500 for 4,237 cases,
at a total annual cost exceeding AED 404,940,000.
The decision also covers the processing of 560 employment applications, consideration of 672 housing rental cases,
and the follow-up of requests to build homes across the various cities and regions of Sharjah.
This is in line with His Highness’s directives to strengthen the social care system and ensure family and social stability for citizens.
The beneficiaries of the support program include 3,126 elderly individuals 134 widows877 divorced women,
and 100 low-income individuals aged 45 to 59. Implementation of the decision
will begin in Sharjah city and will gradually extend to other cities and regions of the emirate.
In terms of geographic distribution:
Sharjah city: 2,415 cases, with an annual cost exceeding AED 231 million.
Khorfakkan: 513 cases, with a cost of approximately AED 50 million
Kalba: 588 cases, at a cost of around AED 57 million.
Dibba Al-Hisn: 248 cases, costing AED 23 million.
Al Dhaid: 173 cases, with an annual cost of AED 16.4 million.
The support also includes Al Madam (116 cases), Mleiha (59 cases), Al Bataeh (42 cases),
and Al Hamriyah (83 cases), at a total cost exceeding AED 28 million annually.
This directive stems from the deeply rooted humanitarian approach of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah
and his unwavering commitment to preserving human dignity, providing the essentials
for a decent life, and establishing a sustainable development model that prioritizes human well-being.
