Sharjah, UAE – The 22nd edition of the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival kicks off next Monday.
Which is organized by the Sharjah Department of Culture over a period of 7 days.
With the participation of more than 80 male and female poets, critics and media professionals representing Arab countries and a number of African countries.
The event is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
The opening ceremony will begin at the Palace of Culture in Sharjah, where the events will begin with a documentary show entitled “Years of Poetry”.
Followed by poetry readings by: Dr. Ahmed Balboula from Egypt, Hazbar Mahmoud from Iraq, and Najat Al Dhaheri from the Emirates.
The winners of the fifth session of the Sharjah Award for Arabic Poetry Criticism will be honored.
They are: Mahrez bin Mohsen Rashidi from Tunisia in first place, Mahdi Al-Araj from Morocco in second place, and Al-Hassan Muhammad Mahmoud in third place from Mauritania in third place.
The morning of the second day of the festival will witness the honoring of the winners of the Golden Rhymes Award – 4th session, at the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Foundation.
The winners will present their poetic texts, “Annals of Rhymes 2025”, in a creative look that reflects their literary experiences.
In addition to organizing a poetry evening held at the House of Poetry in Sharjah.
The poetry meeting will be renewed on the third day of the festival with an evening hosted by the House of Poetry with the participation of a number of Arab poets.
The fourth day of the festival begins with the intellectual symposium accompanying the festival under the title “The Emotional Trend in Arabic Poetry and its Transformations”, and is held in two sessions.
On the same day, the audience will have a poetry evening held at Beit Al Sha.
Poetry readings continue on the fifth and sixth days of the festival.
Where poets will present a range of their creativity, leading up to the conclusion of the festival, which will witness a poetry evening held at the Kalba Council.
