Sharjah, UAE – The eighth edition of the Gulf Cooperation Council Cup for the 2025/2026 season will kick off on Sunday at Sharjah Longines Racecourse.
Organized by the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club in cooperation with the Emirates Horse Racing Authority.
With the participation of a group of elite Arabian horses from the United Arab Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Qatar.
The race, which is the fourth for Sharjah Longines Racecourse, is sponsored by Al Marwan Group, Al Marwan Development, Al Marwan Equipment, Sharjah Sports Council and Sharjah Sports Channel.
The race consists of 6 rounds for different distances and levels.
The first was allocated to purebred Arabian horses starting at the age of 3 years, specifically for foals and castrated horses, for a distance of 1,200 metres, with prizes of up to 40,000 dirhams, with the participation of 16 horses and the presence of 4 horses on reserve.
While the second round was allocated for purebred Arabian horses, starting with foals aged only three years and for a distance of 1200 metres.
With prizes of up to 40 thousand dirhams, with the participation of 16 skills, with 4 skills on reserve.
The third round of the race was dedicated to purebred Arabian horses aged 3 years and older.
The fourth round for purebred Arabian horses is equal in classification at the age of four years, the largest generation in the Emirates, for a distance of 2000 metres, with prizes amounting to 40 thousand dirhams, and the number of horses participating in it is 9 horses.
The fifth round of the race was dedicated to purebred Arabian horses produced by the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and classified as 4 years old or older, over a distance of 1700 metres.
Its prizes amount to 200,000 dirhams, with the participation of 14 horses from the United Arab Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman, and the State of Qatar.
While the sixth round, which is a parity round, is allocated to purebred crossbred horses aged three years and above, for a distance of 1200 metres.
Its prizes reach 40 thousand dirhams, and the number of horses participating in it is 16 horses, with 4 horses on reserve.
