Muscat, Sultanate of Oman – UAE players imposed their dominance on the podiums in the Gulf Cooperation Council Golf Championship, in its fourth editions for cubs under 13 years of age, the ninth for juniors under 16 years of age, the eighth for women, and the second for girls under 16 years of age.
It concluded in the Sultanate of Oman, at the Ola Club stadiums in the capital, Muscat.
UAE players ranked first in the singles competition for girls under 16 years old.
Anka Matteo won first place with a total of one over par.
She was 8 strokes ahead of her colleagues Asia Salim and Sara Abu Bakr, who came in second and third place.
The UAE girls’ under-16 team also topped the team competition with a total of three under-average hits.
While the Saudi and Kuwaiti teams came in second and third place.
In the women’s category, UAE players continued their superiority by winning the first three places in the singles competition, in addition to winning the team title.
Jamie Cameron took the lead with a total of two strokes above average, two strokes ahead of Lara Al-Shayeb.
While Al Balushi came in third place with a total of 19 strokes above average.
The UAE players succeeded in clinching the lead in the women’s team competitions with a total of two under par, ahead of the Saudi and Bahraini teams, which finished in second and third places.
Abdullah Al Sayed Al Hashemi, President of the Emirates Golf Federation, praised the distinguished results achieved by the country’s teams in the tournament.
He stressed that this outcome reflects the success of the Union’s strategy based on building from the base, investing in the age groups, and expanding the base of practitioners.
In addition to providing progressive technical preparation programs and a competitive environment, this contributes to enhancing the presence of UAE golf at the regional and international levels.
