Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Emirates Airlines signed, on Thursday, a memorandum of understanding with Rolls-Royce during the Dubai Airshow 2025.

Under the memorandum, Emirates Airlines will undertake maintenance, repair and overhaul work on the Trent 900 engines that operate its fleet of Airbus A380 aircraft starting in 2027.

Emirates also extended TotalCare’s services agreement with Rolls-Royce for A380 engines until the 1940s.

Emirates Airlines will build a new facility dedicated to this purpose, and the first engine is expected to be received in 2027.

The tanker will carry out repair work on the engine fan housing inside the facility, while Rolls-Royce will maintain unit repair capabilities within its global network.

Ahmed Safa, Head of Engineering and Maintenance at Emirates Airlines, said, “This agreement is in line with Emirates Airlines’ plan to operate the A380 fleet until the 1940s, as we were keen to ensure engine maintenance capabilities internally, and we will work closely with their team to introduce the latest engine maintenance and aging technologies to our facilities within Expansion of the Emirates Airlines Engineering and Maintenance Center, which constitutes a new qualitative addition to the capabilities of the growing aviation sector in Dubai”.

Paul Keenan, Director of Commercial Aviation After-Sales Operations at Rolls-Royce, said: “Today’s announcement represents another important milestone in our journey towards significantly increasing our global capabilities in the fields of maintenance, repair and Umrah by 2030. This agreement will allow enhancing the capacity of the Rolls-Royce global network.” It also confirms our commitment to providing the best products and services to our customers around the world.

Emirates Airlines is the largest operator of Airbus A380 aircraft, the largest commercial passenger aircraft in service, as the carrier operates 116 aircraft of this model within its fleet.
