Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Flydubai and General Electric Aviation signed a new agreement on Monday to purchase 60 GEnx-1B engines.
This is to supply the carrier’s first fleet of wide-body aircraft, which consists of 30 Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with these engines.
The agreement, signed during the Dubai Airshow 2025, includes spare engines and long-term support services to support the launch of the carrier’s operations on long-haul flights.
This agreement supports Flydubai’s strategy for the continued growth and expansion of its network.
This enables it to increase capacity at its current destinations and meet the growing demand from its passengers.
It currently serves more than 135 destinations in 57 countries, and the carrier is currently working to add long-haul destinations to its growing network.
The selection of GEnx-1B engines confirms Flydubai’s confidence in General Electric’s solutions.
Which provides best-in-class performance, durability and fuel efficiency. These engines are designed for powerful performance and high reliability.
They are essential to the tanker’s sustainable growth in the region’s operating environments.
Since its introduction in 2011, the GEnx engine family has logged more than 62 million flight hours.
It is General Electric Aviation’s fastest-selling high-propulsion engine to date, with more than 3,600 engines currently in service.
Including reserve units.
The GEnx engine powers two-thirds of the Boeing 787 aircraft currently in operation, and the GEnx engines are powered by the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Mix (SAF).
