Ankara, Turkey – The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is scheduled to begin an official visit to the United States of America on Monday.
This high-level visit comes at a sensitive regional and international juncture, particularly in light of recent developments concerning the energy sector in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The visit is of particular importance following the announcement of the “historic” agreements recently signed by Greece with the United States and private companies.
These agreements aim to bolster Greece’s role in the energy sector and transform the country into a regional energy hub. Ankara is closely monitoring this development amidst the geopolitical competition in the region.
Fidan’s agenda in Washington is expected to include discussions on sensitive bilateral and regional issues. These include the sometimes strained relations between Ankara and Washington, regional security concerns, and developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.
