Dubai, UAE – A report issued by DP World (DB World) showed that the number of its container terminals in India will rise to six. With the completion of the Tuna Tikra station in Gujarat state on the northwest coast of India, which is still in development. In a move that reflects the group’s accelerating expansion in one of its most prominent global markets.
These expansions confirm DP World’s commitment to strengthening its presence in the Indian market through an integrated logistics infrastructure. The group operates an extensive network of more than 100 fast freight centers and eight inland railway stations. In addition to five existing container terminals and 90 container trains. This provides an integrated transportation system linking ports to industrial zones and consumption centers across the country.
Stations under development
According to the report, the company’s operations in India include three free trade zones and more than five million square feet of storage space. In addition to stations under development, enhancing their capabilities to meet the growing demand for logistics services and support trade growth.
Through this system, DP World Group provides an integrated range of services, including shipping, customs clearance, and transportation lines. Along with trade finance solutions and a digital logistics platform, giving traders greater flexibility and efficiency in managing supply chains.
As the only operator based in three of India’s largest ports, with a market share of approximately 25%, DP World has the capacity to design and deliver multimodal logistics solutions. An asset portfolio and services developed over more than three decades.
Last year, the group said it had begun construction on a new $510 million container terminal in Tuna Tikra in the Indian state of Gujarat, which includes a 1.1-kilometre quay. Its annual capacity is 2.19 million 20-foot standard containers. Pointing out that this station will connect the vast interior regions of India to global markets via a network of roads and railways, facilitating Indian companies’ access to global trade chains more quickly and efficiently.
The group stated, in its recently released 2025 annual report, that the capital spending budget for 2026, amounting to about three billion dollars, will be invested in several markets, including the «Tuna Tikra» station in India.
Multi-pattern linking
She explained that her additional investments aim to develop an integrated supply chain network, focusing on enhancing multi-modal connectivity, supporting exports and domestic trade, and improving India’s competitiveness in global trade. Noting that it signed five memorandums of understanding and major agreements with the government and the industrial sector, to build strategic partnerships that are expected to contribute to creating business opportunities and jobs within the infrastructure system and the maritime sector.
The report showed that DP World continued to establish its presence in the Indian market, by providing innovative logistics solutions that support the transition towards sustainability. The company unveiled a successful model to reduce emissions in the supply chain of Tata Iron and Steel, one of the world’s largest steel producers.
This step comes within the framework of Tata Iron and Steel’s quest to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Its previous reliance on diesel trucking posed a challenge to its environmental goals, particularly in the transportation of scrap metal for recycling.
In this context, DP World has developed a multimodal transportation solution, based on shipping scrap via containers using coastal battleships. Which reduces dependence on traditional land transportation. This model was applied between Chennai and recycling facilities in Odisha. With improved sea route design that reduces fuel consumption.
The solution also included introducing intelligent systems to monitor ship speeds and alert crews when optimal speeds are exceeded. In addition to improving the accuracy of fuel consumption reports, this has contributed to improving operational efficiency and enhancing port productivity.
Food aid to 8 countries
The DB World Charitable Foundation, the charitable arm of DP World Group (DB World), provided 17.8 thousand funds of basic food aid in an initiative that benefited about 45 thousand people in eight countries.
The group said in a statement that the initiative included Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, Senegal, Somalia and Somaliland. This is worth more than one million dollars.
