Kuwait – The Kuwaiti Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced on Saturday that Kuwait International Airport was subjected to a series of drone attacks. This resulted in significant material damage to the airport’s infrastructure. However, no injuries were reported among passengers or staff.
Technical damage details
The official spokesperson for the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Abdullah Al-Rajhi, explained in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the surprise attack caused significant damage to the airport’s radar system. This system is a vital component for managing air traffic and ensuring navigational safety. Al-Rajhi confirmed that the incident was limited to material damage. He also noted that emergency systems were immediately activated to address the situation.
Emergency procedures and preparedness
Immediately after the attack, emergency teams, security personnel, and specialists rushed to the site to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the situation and survey the damage. Technical teams are currently working at full capacity to repair the damage to the radar system. Their aim is to restore full operational readiness to the airport as quickly as possible to ensure that flight schedules are not affected in the long term.

The official spokesperson emphasized that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation is maintaining intensive and high-level coordination with all security and relevant authorities in the country to take all necessary preventive and precautionary measures.
