Tehran, Iran – Iran has announced a major discovery, one of the largest mineral finds in recent years, after confirming the discovery of a new gold mine the Shadan mine located in South Khorasan province.
It is one of the most important private mines operating in the gold sector within the country.
The Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade confirmed that it had officially approved the results of the geological studies.
Which proved the existence of large quantities of easily extractable gold ore.
7.95 million tons of gold ore
Official data indicates that the new discovery contains
approximately 7.95 million tons of readily recoverable oxidized gold ore,
in addition to 53.1 million tons of sulfide ore requiring advanced processing technologies.
This makes it one of the largest discoveries
in the sector in the last decade.
This move comes as part of a government strategy
aimed at boosting mineral reserves and increasing gold production.
This is considered one of the resources that could mitigate the effects
of international sanctions imposed on Tehran.
Strengthening Iran’s domestic economy
Iran also seeks, through supporting the mining sector, to strengthen its local economy
in light of the continued decline in the value of the Iranian rial and rising inflation rates.
Iran currently operates about 15 gold mines distributed across various provinces.
The Zershuran mine in the northwest of the country is the largest in terms of production.
The new discovery at the Shadan mine is expected to contribute
to increasing the production capacity of the gold sector.
Enhancing Iran’s ability to provide strategic reserves that can be
used to support the local currency and increase non-oil revenues.
Economic experts believe this discovery could represent
a significant boost for the Iranian mining sector.
Especially in light of the government’s trend towards diversifying
income sources and reducing reliance on traditional exports,
They stressed that investment in mines could alleviate
some of the mounting economic pressures on the country.
