Pakistan – Pakistani authorities affirmed on Tuesday that the existing ceasefire agreement with Afghanistan will remain in effect unless either party violates it. They emphasized Islamabad’s commitment to reducing tensions and maintaining stability along the shared border.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman explained that his country seeks to avoid any military escalation. He also called on the Afghan side to adhere to the terms of the agreement and not allow any armed elements to commit provocative acts that could jeopardize relations between the two countries.

He added that Pakistan continues to coordinate with the Afghan government through diplomatic channels to ensure restraint. He also seeks to prevent a recurrence of the border clashes that have plagued the region in recent months.

This statement comes amid ongoing regional and international efforts aimed at easing tensions between the two neighbors and enhancing security cooperation, in order to prevent the infiltration of armed groups across the rugged, mountainous border.
