Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Four Syrian soldiers were killed on Thursday when an explosive device exploded on a bus in the east of the country.

Media outlets reported that “four Syrian army personnel were killed when a bus was targeted with an explosive device near the town of Sa’lu, east of Deir ez-Zor.”

In turn, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that “a military bus belonging to the Ministry of Defense was targeted by an explosive device planted by unknown individuals, likely affiliated with ISIS cells, on the main road between the cities of Deir ez-Zor and al-Mayadeen, near the village of Sa’lu in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.”

He pointed out that the attack resulted in three deaths and nine injuries, in addition to damaging the bus.

Ambulances rushed to the explosion site to transport the injured, amid a heavy security presence in the area.

The Observatory expected the death toll to rise, as there were wounded, some of whom were in critical condition.
