Moscow, Russia – Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that the United States’ supply of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine would destroy relations between Moscow and Washington.

Highlights
  • “A new qualitative phase of escalation”
  • “Not currently possible”
  • Zelensky discussed the matter with Trump
  • “Slight change”

Putin said in a video statement published on Sunday that this step “will destroy Russian-American relations, or at least the positive trends that have begun to appear recently”.

A few days ago, the Russian President warned that supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles would cause serious damage to relations between Moscow and Washington.

But at the same time, he stressed that this would not change the situation on the ground. The Russian army continues to make slow but steady progress.

“A new qualitative phase of escalation”

Putin said during a foreign policy forum in the Black Sea resort of Sochi last Thursday that supplying Kiev with American Tomahawk cruise missiles would constitute “a new qualitative stage of escalation. This includes relations between Russia and the United States”.

He added that although these missiles could harm Russia if delivered to Ukraine. However, Russian air defenses would quickly adapt to this new threat.

“This will not change the balance of power on the battlefield,” he continued.

He stressed that Russian forces continue to make continuous gains against Ukraine.

“Not currently possible”

On the other prank.. A US official and three sources said that the Trump administration’s desire to supply Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles may not be possible at the present time.

This is because existing stocks are intended for the US Navy and other uses.

Putin’s comments came in response to media reports that the United States is considering supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles. This is to facilitate deep strikes inside Russian territory.

Zelensky discussed the matter with Trump

Ukraine is set to use these attacks to defend itself against a large-scale Russian invasion. This invasion was launched by Moscow more than three and a half years ago.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has been demanding missiles with a range of more than 2,000 kilometers, allegedly discussed the issue with US President Donald Trump last week. This was during UN General Assembly meetings.

At the time, Trump said after the meeting that Ukraine had the opportunity to regain Russian-occupied territory.

“Slight change”

It is worth noting that a report published by the Financial Times stated that the United States intends to provide Ukraine with new intelligence information. This will allow strikes using long-range missiles and drones against energy infrastructure facilities in Russia.

According to the newspaper’s sources, Washington is providing intelligence support to Kiev. The United States will now provide Ukraine with new intelligence information for this purpose.

What do we know about America’s Iron Fortress?

The Financial Times indicated that some of Trump’s advisors are not convinced that Tomahawk missiles will significantly change the balance of power on the front line.

While one American official said: “I do not think that a limited number of Tomahawk missiles or sporadic strikes deep into Russian territory will change Putin’s position”.
