Tehran, Iran – Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, stressed his country’s determination to confront the decision of the European Troika (France, Germany, and Britain). They plan to reactivate international and UN sanctions on his country (Snapback).

He stressed in statements today, Tuesday, in a public session of Parliament, “We will soon adopt a unified decision to deter the trigger mechanism.”

Unfair decision

Qalibaf also stressed that the Troika does not have the right to activate the trigger mechanism.

In addition, he considered that “United Nations resolutions are not just ink on paper. However, they do not have influential repercussions on the Iranian economy”.

These statements come as the Iranian Parliament is expected to vote on a binding draft law. The law aims to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

It also came after the European Troika informed the Security Council last week of the activation of the mechanism. This mechanism allows a rapid return to UN sanctions if Tehran does not allow the return of UN inspectors. These inspectors need access to three nuclear facilities that were bombed by the US in June.

In addition to providing accurate information on about 400 kg of 60% enriched uranium.

In addition to engaging in direct and constructive negotiations with Washington to reach a new nuclear agreement. While Iranian officials criticized this measure, stressing that it was “illegal and politicized, and came in implementation of American orders”.

They also threatened to respond, considering that activating Snapback would have devastating repercussions at the international level. Furthermore, it would affect relations between Tehran and the IAEA as well.
